A Camping Trip With Isak

 *Ives is enjoying himself tremendously. It's been too long since he went camping, doing so again is a lot of fun--especially with a friend. (The fact that he has a friend is pretty amazing all by itself.) He enjoys pointing things out, and enjoys even more when Isak notices things for himself.*

We can go fishing tomorrow, if you would like? Or just swim, one way or the other.

"I think we do whatever we need to in order to survive, whatever that might mean." Isak let out a bit of a sigh. "I -- protected them. From our father."

Isak glanced over at the Colonel and then to the fire. He stayed quiet for a moment before sighing.

"He managed not to directly hit us, but it was -- mostly because we learned how to stay safe around him. If we had not -- it would have been a different story."

"More or less," Isak replied. "It should not be too long before he does officially."

"I am unsure of whether he wanted to be cremated, but if he is not, no -- that is not terrible. I wish I could do the job myself."

"I will," Isak replied with a rueful smile. He glanced towards the fish and took a few sniffs. "Is it cooked?"

"Ja, tack!" Isak exclaimed, clapping his hands together excitedly.

After eating a few bites of the fish, Isak let out a happy sigh.

"It is hard to argue with the taste of freshly caught fish! There is nothing like it."

Well, I wouldn't say nothing. *He smiles his most fiendish smile and winks playfully.*

"-- Well, for me," Isak clarified with a laugh.

Of course. For me all other foods pale in comparison to humankind. I'd like this much better with a bit of your blood . . .

"Ah, well, hopefully you do not mind if I -- politely decline?"

It's perfectly understandable, just a shame.

Probably for the best, really. I'm doing my best not to associate you with food, and it can already be difficult, so avoiding temptation is smart.

I am trying to be a friend, friends do that.
