"Ja, okej. I will get all of that for you. Do you have a preference for your Scotch?"

Not especially, as long as it's good.

"I will see if they have the one that I like. It is not commonly found, but it is my favorite -- hopefully you will enjoy it, as well, should they have it."

That sounds . . . quite lovely, actually.

"I will do my best," Isak replied, rummaging for the keys in his pocket. He hopped in the car and searched for the nearest market using his phone, then drove off to gather what he wanted.

He returned two or so hours later, parking where he had before. As he closed the hatch, he shifted the bags he carried in his hands. Two were full of cans of beans and corn, one had a few wrapped packages of fresh fish, one had a variety of vegetables, and under his other arm was a paper bag, inside of which was a bottle of his favorite scotch. He lugged it all inside and set everything down on a counter, remembering to be extra careful with the bottle.

"Surprisingly, they had the scotch," he said, taking it out of the bag. He showed it to Ives. "Lagavulin 21. My favorite of all time."

*He starts putting things away with a smile.* That does indeed look like a very fine scotch. Thank you.

What kind of dish are you thinking of making?

"I had made this dish a couple of weeks ago that I enjoyed. I was thinking of making that. I was not sure if you had foil, so I purchased some," he said, holding the foil up and giving it a little wiggle.

Well then, I hope you enjoy it. And I don't generally have foil, no.

"I had a feeling," Isak replied with a smile. "You are free to have some, if you want to try."

I would be quite glad to.

"Mycket bra!" Isak replied with a grin. He finished taking out all of the ingredients to his dish, pulled up the recipe on his phone, and began to prepare everything. He pre-heated the oven, mixed the sauce, placed the foil and some of the fish (placing the extra in the fridge), etc. etc. He put the four foil packets onto a baking tray and slid it into the oven, setting a timer on his phone. His stomach let out a grumble. "I'll be right back," he said, disappearing to find the snacks he brought in his duffel.

*Some irrational part of Ives wants very much to add his own ingredients the whole time, but he knows that it's a bad idea and thus refrains.* It does look quite good, all things considered.

Isak nodded, happily munching from one of the very large bags of trail mix he bought. He waits until he's chewed and swallowed before responding.

"You can -- flavor it as you'd like for your part, if you want."

I hardly need your permission for that, lad. Just be glad it's not in, well, yours.

"That is true," Isak said with a laugh. He sealed up the trail mix bag as the timer on his phone went off. He shut the timer off, slipped on an oven mitt, and opened the oven door. The enticing smell of cooked seafood with basil, garlic, and vegetables wafted out. Isak's stomach let out a happy growl. He carefully took the tray out and set it on top of the oven, then closed the door. "These need a few moments to cool; do you want to use the stove to cook your -- food?"

That would be lovely, thank you.

*Just try to ignore the more obviously human bits, okay? That's totally a leg of mutton, don't think about the fingers on the end . . .* I'll just try the fish while my dinner is cooking, if you don't mind?

"Mm, okej," Isak said, moving the tray of the foil packets to the counter. He retrieved two plates and placed two packets on each. He got some cutlery and brought everything over to the table. "Want to try some of the whiskey with it?"

I would love to. *He delicately unwraps the foil and smiles.* It looks wonderful.

Isak nodded returning the smile. He poured about three fingers' worth into two glasses, sliding one to Ives as he sat down. He held his own glass up in a toast to the Colonel.

"Skål!"

*Ives returns the toast, then takes a sip and relaxes with a sigh.* Mmm, good stuff. Probably cost something insane, but then most things do nowadays.

"Mm, ja. It is one of the more expensive ones, but I feel like it is worth it," Isak said before bringing the whiskey to his mouth to take a savoring taste. He sighed happily and swallowed the amber liquid. "I tried the cheaper kind, and -- it was terrible," he laughed. "So I decided that it was worth spending so much to buy this particular kind, because I enjoyed it so much. There are worse things to splurge on, surely." He began to unwrap his foil packet and let some of the steam escape. He waved a hand through the steam to help cool the fish down. His stomach let out a growl. "If you like it enough, I would like to get you a bottle of your own before I leave."

There are far worse things to, ah, indulge in. I should know.

That would be delightful. I don't get this kind of luxury very often, and when I do it's never gained morally.

"Then I will be happy to get it for you, Ives," Isak replied happily. He picked up his utensils and ripped away the foil so that the fish and vegetables were on the plate. He cut into the fish and speared a piece onto his fork. He brought it up to his nose and gave it a whiff before putting it into his mouth. He let out a happy sound at the taste of the food. "It came out fairly good, I think."

*Ives tastes a bit of it and smiles.* It is quite good, yes. As much as any normal food can be.

"Does 'normal food' taste lackluster to you?" Isak asked, spearing some of the vegetables. "Or does everything taste different?"
